The Sun Valley Branch Library is one of only a handful of buildings in the United States to achieve a LEED Gold Rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. It is only the fourth public library in the country to achieve Gold level. Located at 7935 Vineland Avenue, the Sun Valley Branch Library attests to how environmental responsibility is a priority for the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Public Library’s vision of community library service.   Managed by a partnership between the Department of Los Angeles Public Library and the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering, this project is part of the 1998 Prop DD Library Bond Measure, approved by the voters in 1998.  Many aspects of the project, both in the design and construction, promote sustainable design and environmental conservation.
